Bucket
Attributed to Zayn al-Din, Northwestern Iran, Turkey, Egypt or Syria, Around 1475-50
This intricately patterned bucket, identified as the work of the master metalworker Zayn al-Din, is associated with the hammam, or bath house. Its rich decoration suggests it was made for holding wine and could have been used in the hammam’s social spaces. The superb decoration on its base would have been seen when wine was poured for each guest.
